A recent report has shown that tweets with photo url link gets a higher retweets than any other url links. According to new Twitter data, Tweets with pictures were retweeted 35% more often than text-only tweets, and tweets with video links saw a 28% increase in retweets.

An important note about these data report is that they vary by industry; if you work in TV you may see a different result from that of sports. However, the result above is a combination of all the industries. The research looked closely at what was different in each area within sample.

The research considered several industries which include TV, News, Politics, Music and Sport. The result of the research shows that, for TV, quotes has the highest level of engagement while photo is the third highest and on the other hand, video has the highest level of engagement in music. In News, politics and sports however, photo has the highest level of engagement.

With the results so far its obvious that photo gets more retweets. What this means for you is that if you want to pass a message across to your audience via the twitter channel, you should consider not just any photo but one that carries a strong message.
